Product Description

About the Author

Ryan Andrew Kinder (1980-4277, died heroically in a battle in the Great Machine Uprising. Previously thought to be immortal.) is an author. But you knew that already, this being an author biography. Having aspired to the lofty goal of having people read things that entertained him, being as egotistical as writers are, he set out to put pen to paper in the late 1980's. Fast forward through twenty years of procrastination and you have the man before you today. Brimming with ideas and scores of half completed projects. He then set out to create a writing group on Reddit called simply "Writing Prompts." Two years have passed and the group is home to over 1,000,000 amazing people. Give or take a few knuckleheads. Their tireless energy in writing helped Ryan Andrew Kinder gain the confidence he needed to finally finish things. Why is Ryan Andrew Kinder writing a bio in the third person, as if he wasn't the one puffing himself up? That remains to be seen.

What I was particularly impressed by in 1000 AWESOME WRITING PROMPTS was the breadth and range of ideas here: though the author is seemingly slightly biased towards aliens, blood/death and apocalypse generally, drama *is* conflict! I think my favourite was the notion of alphabet soup attempting to communicate a message (but what is it??) - really imaginative, fun exercises!

I've read lots of writing prompt books now, but this is the first time I've left a review for one. I think this is a book that could work for teachers in secondary schools and ESL; writers' groups; plus students of AS/A2 English, or Key Stages 3 or 4 for practice as well.
What's more, as a script editor for short films and movies, it frustrates me when writers pick on a single idea and run with it without road testing it first, as it can mean they quickly run out of steam and tying their stories in knots, completely oblivious to the fact it was their concept at grass roots level that stinks. 1000 WRITING PROMPTS is the perfect vehicle to illustrate to scriptwriters they need that clear starting point - not just a theme, an image, a piece of dialogue, the trailer in their head or whatever!

I will be recommending this to my "Bang2writers" for sure and give this book 5 stars without hesitation. Bravo!

I've been going through a bit of a dry patch of writing, recently, and this was the perfect remedy. Writing prompts are the perfect way to just write, no need to sit for hours of end thinking up of ideas.

This is put together very well, with some very quality topics and prompts. It will definitely be helping me catch back up on my writing practice!

Would definitely recommend to a fellow writer in need of some word-fuels for their creative fires.

Useful and thought-provoking - I have used at least 50 of these so far and it's great for getting into a habit. Some of the traditional style prompts mixed with more interesting ideas - hugely inspirational. Thanks!
