I love this book, i bought 7 of them to give all my friends & fam who needed some perking up with a highlighter attached to pick out the best ones. NOTES ON LIFE instead of the normal grumpyness, i'm actually mad that people can even have anything bad to say about this book.

This is such a happy little book as the title suggests, not a story no but that's why i like it, it's good for even those who don't read as you can dip in & out when you need perking up. I do agree i don't know what all of the words / items are but that's part of the fun, learn new things & maybe inspire you to give them a try. I am 21 so there is a bit of a generation gap with some of the things listed but this is someone else's happy list which we are welcom to pick & choose from which i don't think some people understand, who are they to say it's stupid what makes her happy. < but this is why i give my gifts with a highlighter.

You can see the effort that has gone into this, i mean it is literally a collection of things 1 women has appreciated through her entire life so yes i am mad there are bad reviews, kudos to her i certainly couldn't think of that many haha. Being a bit of a grump myself this will forever stay within reaching distance i love it & attribute it on my road to recovering from depression. However if you are a rich yummy mummy who only appreciates fancy cars & the highest of the high pleasures, don't bother leaving such a rude review & perhaps take note from the positivity in this book!!??

Although there is dark humor in comedy about the bad things in life, honey is sweeter than

We winge about the most simple things in life so why can't we appreciate lobster raviloi (fish flavored pasta FYI 1 star reviewer) Pick this up instead of a strong drink to get you through the day XD One of my favorite books & i wish i could personally thank the author. Damn girl the happiest women i'd ever meet haha.

Looked like a lovely little book but it was just ramblings! Completely deflated after having a flick through. Waste of money

I was expecting lots from this book as I had heard such good reviews. I couldn't wait to highlight all the things in it that related to me most. However it turns out I so far have nothing to highlight. This book is far more suited to middle-aged American women than 19 year old British me. So far all I've read is hundreds of American references I don't understand (being British and all) and several pretty dull 'housewifey' things that you most likely won't relate to if you are under 30 and/or male. Good book in principle, if only it was slightly more universal. I will keep this book purely because it looks nice on my coffee table

This is a brilliant book for making you want to snile if you're feeling down as it remind youvof the little things in life
the only reason i gave it 4 stars was alot of the terms are american and i'm not but 95% of them are 'universal'

The book itself is pleasing to the eye. HOWEVER I agree with many of the other reviews, the items to be 'happy' about are rambles and really only have any significance to the author. This didn't make me happy, it stressed me out!

So, i'm not 100% sure what i was expecting from this book. I had read so many good reviews of it i was really hoping for something special. However, i am really disappointed with it. The author started to write a list of things that made her happy when she was a kid and over the years she added to it - then she made her list into a book and here it is....

I was flicking through it last night - its not the type of book you read in order - and i found there were several items i didn't even know what they were (such as snow peaches). I honestly think a better idea would be to keep your own book of things that make you happy. Buy the life diary from suckuk (its a massive notebook) and record anything that makes YOU happy.

The things that make you happy are subjective and unique to you. I am going to return this asap which is really sad as i was so excited about it :(

I made the mistake of buying this book without doing research first. Tempted by the title and it's reasonably low price, I bought this book thinking that it would be nice to have and read through occasionally. Upon the arrival of this book, I flipped through the pages to be met with literal one/few word things that could have been written by a child. Things such as "gumdrops", "woven straw mats" and "cigar boxes" (?!) made their way into this book and the further I went on, the more disappointed I got. It is as though as many random words got thrown into here as possible just to make up the '14,000 things' that apparently people are to be happy about. The only good thing about this book is it's pocket size so easy to carry around, if you would really want to do that.
