5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading, 11 Jan 2001
By jonla@ic24.net (Southampton, UK) - See all my reviews
Picked this book up on Khao San Rd in Bangkok for my journey home to Heathrow and had finished it before I even got on the plane. Essential reading and incredibly moving and harrowing. I did not realise tht any period of imprisonment could be so horrific. I would love to know what Fellows is up to these days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shocking and gripping, 10 Jan 2007
By Julie Barnard (Durban, South Africa) - See all my reviews
This book is truely eye-opening. It is hard to believe some of the things this author had to endure. Being locked up in a Thai prison was 12 years of endless torchure and extremes, it's a wonder he survived.

A truely revealing account of the inhumane incidences that occur inside these prisons.

I read the book in a matter of hours, very easy to read and one of those books you cant stop thinking about, long after you've finished reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Profoundly moving story., 14 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Last year I spent time in prison in a foreign country. A friend gave me this book about six months after I returned home. Fellows's story moved me deeply. It made me re-appreciate my freedom and my life. It's hard to believe that anyone could endure the tortures he did and live to tell about it. Fellows manages to communicate the lonliness and desparation of prison-life in a foreign land.
