Jane Lawes was born in 1987 in Surrey, where she grew up with her parents, her younger sister and an assortment of pets. She studied American Literature with Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia and spent three years there reading good books and writing stories. She is now an Assistant Editor in educational publishing. As a child, she loved gymnastics and dancing. Every summer, she wore the garden out practising gymnastics and always secretly wished she was good enough to be on her school's squad. She lives in London and still enjoys watching gym competitions on TV, as well as listening to music, watching ballet and films, and trying to play tennis.
