Time Out New York once wrote that Ólöf Arnalds possess the kind of voice “that can silence a room, such is its sweetness”, while, elsewhere, that ambrosial yet mysteriously potent instrument has been labelled “otherworldly” (The New York Times), “stunning” (SPIN) and “bewitching” (Rolling Stone). 5.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet 24 Dec 2011
By P. Carr
Format:Audio CD
Yes, this is short but this is beautifully sung and played. Personally I preferred this to the last album Innurdir Skinni . I bought the music as mp3 downloads from Amazon, which was cheaper, more immediate and in my opinion very good value for money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction 23 Jan 2014
By Mary Wendell - Published on
Format:Audio CD
I'm okay with the brevity of this album. It was marketed well enough that it caught my eye, caught my ear, and in the end called me to the attention of another awesome Icelandic music artist! I can't get enough of this country. Sigur Ros, Bjork, Emiliana Torrini... I feel like I'm missing another favorite. Anyway, tune in to Olof for a stunning sound.
4.0 out of 5 stars I Play This One While Driving 19 Feb 2012

Verified Purchase
These aren't necessarily covers of favorite songs but they have a pretty good beat for driving. I bought this after hearing her interviewed by Scott Simon on NPR. I had also been reading Michael Lewis' book Boomerang: Travels in the New Third World which included a section about the financial misfortunes of Iceland. Synchronicity.

Anyway I have enjoyed the singer's unusual voice and song choice. i know she is not going to be to everyone's taste but worth the download.
5.0 out of 5 stars Only 5, but better than none 26 Jan 2012

Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
First heard Olof on Scott Simon's Saturday morning NPR radio show and was intrigued with her version of Neil Diamond's Solitary Man. I like that she selected 5 songs written by men about women to sing and she sings them very well indeed. It is too bad that there are only 5 songs on the CD, but it shouldn't stop anyone from buying it because she is an original and one to watch for in the future.

2.0 out of 5 stars Olaf Sings but not much 11 Dec 2011
By GMJ - Published on
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Olaf sings only five songs for a total of about 15 minutes. While I generally like her odd voice and musical selections, five brief songs hardly warrant being marketed as an album.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty skimpy for an album 15 Dec 2011
By Jill D. Welch - Published on
Format:Audio CD
I wish I had seen the other review before I purchased this album. I do like her voice, which is why I bought it, but didn't think to see how many songs were on it. I have never seen an album with so little music on it. It included a card with a code to download 4 more "Bonus Tracks", but I can't add them to my CD to play! Why didn't they just include these on the CD?? Even 9 2 to 3 minute tracks make a skimpy album.
