Équipe Nouvelle 1 is a superb textbook, and covers most of the basic building blocks that are needed when learning a language. It includes units on Friends, Family, School, Food and others.
The book is written in a clear, lesson-by-lesson format, and follows the story of a group of young people that readers may be able to relate to.
Many extension, starter and plenary activities are in the book, and a glossary/dictionary is located at the back, and is an essential homework tool.
However, there are a few faults.
1. The book is usually telling the reader to refer to the Compact Disc/Cassette. These do not come with the book, and are very tricky to get hold of.
2. The answers to the questions in the book have to be bought separately. These, again, are often difficult to get hold of.
3. Some of the activities are written in French that the book has not covered. This means that most of the questions are difficult to understand.
Apart from these small problems, the book has made good reading; and has proved to be an invaluable revision tool.
