Product Description

Product Description

This exciting book will feature the complete personnel files of eight of the most popular characters from the BBC TV hit series, Spooks. The characters featured will include Harry Pearce, Adam Carter, Ruth Evershed, Zafar Younis and Malcolm Wynn Jones from the current cast and the enduring popular Tom Quinn, Zoe Reynolds and Danny Hunter from the original line-up.
The files will contain all the information that the fans could wish for, ranging from how the characters were recruited into MI5 to operational de-briefings and psychological treatment they have received and training they have endured.
Each character will be brought to life in a way that the programme itself is unable to do as the book explores, in minute detail, the events that have shaped their lives and the effect their professional lives have had on them personally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diary of a M15 Man - superb jog down memory lane, 13 Dec 2007

Of all the SPOOKS books this one ,a fictional account of Harry Pearce's time in MI5, I thought would be the least interesting but I couldn't have been more wrong. It's been a long time since I've read anything so eagerly and become fully absorbed in a fictional realm. Whilst it is a work of fiction it is very much based in real world events. I'm early/mid 40's in age and the beginning of this diary coincides with when I first became properly aware of politics and current affairs. It is a tremendous trip down memory lane with many of the events I remember (Falklands War, Brighton Bombing,Diana's death) with a sprinkling of some I don't or had just forgotten. For those I do readily recall, this gives a different perspective and insight on the media accounts of the day. I finished this book with a lot more understanding, respect and admiration for a fictional but very credible and realistic character in a television programme. For me this is the best of the SPOOKS books so far and I look forward to the next one, The Contingent Event Committee due to be published next year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant surprise!, 27 Sep 2006

One of the most annoying publishing cliches is "A must read for any fan of the TV series" but in the case of "Spooks": The Personnel Files" it's absolutely correct. Presented in the form of a series of letters, interviews, reports and profiles it presents a fascinating backrgound for the main characters from the first four series. So here we go (deep breath). A must read for any fan of the TV series!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book of its genre., 25 Oct 2006

I read this book on a boring rainy day and was surprised to find it highly entertaining - despite having never watched the TV series. The characters are developed well and the style of the narrative, with newspaper cuttings, CVs and minutes of meetings, is engrossing. It's turned me into a Spooks fan - I will definitely be watching Spooks from now on. Buy this book - it won't disappoint.
